INTRODUCTION

The Pho-Tak Foldex 20 is a medium format folding camera made in USA by Pho Tak between 1948 and 1953.

Good for nothing!

PERSONAL NOTES

The Foldex 20 is compatible with both 120 film and 620 film, that's why the name is not 120 or 620 but just 20. Small detail tho, the feeding roll can be 620 or 120, but the take up spool has to be 120. So if you are using 620 film only, you need 120 film spools. Who cares, as 620 is discontinued anyway!

The Foldex 20 is simple to use, with only one speed, and only one aperture. Just use 100 ISO film when Sunny, it's as limited as a box camera.

The camera feels sturdy, well built, durable, but is a bit on the heavy side for a folding camera. On the back, it has a green window instead of a red window.

The finder is a bit small, but on par with other cameras of its category. There is no focusing mechanism, but as the aperture is small, this is not too bad as depth of field is quite large.

CONCLUSION

The Pho-Tak Foldex 20 is a cheap 6x9 folding camera, but is quite limited comparing to any Zeiss Ikon. My favorite in this class would be the Zeiss Ikon Nettar 510/2.
