PERSONAL NOTES

My previous smartphone had poor image quality. The iPhone 4s is much better, but still very limited. When there is a lot of light, the images are ok, but indoors or at night, forget it. Also when shooting a very contrasted subject, the sensor lacks latitude, so you often have either underexposed of overexposed portions in the images.

Still, having this smartphone is way better than having no camera at all. For what I do, and the image quality I need, the iPhone is no good at all, but it's always in my pocket... So it'is perfect for scouting, taking notes, store hours, taking behind the scenes photos, and so on...

10 years ago, we used point and shoot cameras, now smartphones are comparable.

CONCLUSION

If you are serious about photography, you know that you need more than one camera. A smarphone is a very good way of always having a camera on you, which is the first tip from the Time Life encyclopedia :-) These cameraphones are perfect for scouting your next shoot.
