PERSONAL NOTES

Rollei 35 series of cameras was designed by Heinz Waaske, it's one of the most compact 35mm film cameras ever made.

Many variations were made in Germany and under licence in Singapore. Variations had different lenses, meters, and finish.

I had the Rollei 35 SE and a Rollei B 35.

The Rollei 35 SE was made in Singapore between 1979 and 1981. Its lens was the very nice coated Sonnar 40mm f2.8.

The Rollei B 35 were made between 1969 and 1978 either in Germany or Singapore. Mine was made in Singapore and its lens was the less sought for Triotar 40mm f3.5.

Yes, the Rollei 35 are compact, but when using one, it can feel a bit awkward sometimes. With its collapsible lens, its advance lever and flash shoe on the bottom, it can be a bit annoying. Moreover, the focus is only done by zones.

Nevertheless, it's a cute compact camera.

CONCLUSION

The Rollei 35 SE, or any Rollei 35, are nice cameras, a bit limited, but very compact. An interesting camera to experiment with, but it won't be your first choice often.
